Dan Shirey PRESIDENT
Dan is a native of Indianapolis, IN and a proud graduate of Butler University. He joined Vulcan Mechanical in 2002 as President, and is responsible for company oversight, leadership, culture and strategic growth of the business. During his tenure, he has lead company growth to locations in Birmingham, Huntsville, Montgomery, AL. and Chattanooga, TN. Over the course of his 25+ year career, he has worked for HVAC distribution, manufacturers and local companies gaining valuable industry insight. He has held positions in operations management, maintenance sales, sales management and general management with specific interest in coaching all aspects of selling. In addition, Dan is a member of the Linc advisory council and board member of LandOpt.
David Spencer CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
David is an accomplished leader with over 30 years of experience. He began his career with Deloitte in 1986 and earned his CPA. For most of the past 20 years, David has held key leadership positions in successful high growth, private equity backed technology companies. He joined Vulcan in late 2017 and was attracted to the company due to its strong business strategy and high level of customer service. Since joining Vulcan, David has expanded talent and resources dedicated to essential areas of our business including finance, human resources and information technology.
Jim Hall VP OF OPERATIONS
Jim has been with Vulcan for over 20 years and has been a key contributor to our strong growth and success. He joined the Vulcan Service team in 2000 as the Service Manager for the Birmingham office to manage day-to-day operations. During his tenure at Vulcan he was promoted to Vice President of Operations to continue providing leadership and direction for our Operations team. Prior to joining Vulcan, he was an HVAC instructor at Dabbs Area Vocational School (1980-88) and Bessemer State Technical College (1988-2000). Jim strongly believes that continual training is key to the professional growth and companywide success. This led him to establish a Technical Training Center in 2018 at our corporate office in Birmingham to provide hands-on training for each of our technicians.
Jeff Williams CORPORATE PROJECT MANAGER
Jeff Williams has been with Vulcan for 15 years and serves as the Corporate Project Manager, responsible for leading the Project Sales Consultants and the installation team. In his role, Jeff helps our customers resolve issues within their facility and ensures a high quality, professional installation. He has over 34 years of experience in the HVAC industry which includes experience with design build projects, equipment replacements, test & balance, controls, project management and estimating. He also previously taught HVAC classes at Bessemer State Technical College (now Lawson State) for approximately five years. Jeff is an invaluable resource to Vulcan as he uses his experience and knowledge to continuously help train and coach our project team to ensure we provide a premium level of project delivery to our customers.
George Fechter FOUNDER
George Fechter is Chairman, founder and Vulcan investor. He held executive positions from 1973-1998 with Limbach Holdings, one of the nation’s largest and most successful mechanical engineering and construction companies. He participated in founding contracting related service companies and provided board services for Linc (HVAC Service Franchising), Linc Facility Services (management, operations and maintenance of large facilities like the Atlanta Airport), TEGG (Electrical Contracting Franchising), LandOpt (Landscape Contracting Managerial Services) and Cut Above (Chicago-based landscaping contractor).
He and Carl Martin started Vulcan, a Linc Contractor in 1991. George is involved in prominent national non-profit organizations serving on the boards, including the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute, University of Pittsburgh Brain Institute, Eye and Ear Foundation, and Manchester Bidwell which provides vocational training to the disadvantaged.
